the speed and uptake of Building Information Modelling in Australia has surpassed industry expectations, yet its little wonder why, once the cost-savings of accuracy, clarity and efficiency are drilled down to a dollar value across an entire project from cradle to grave, the benefits are obvious. more >.
Core to Bold Impressions has always been to evolve and adapt with industry trends, and we welcome BIM with open arms. Why? Because it means our clients can provide us with already established, accurate 3D model data, allowing us to work the creative juice and produce that captivating imagery or immersive short film, and offers our clients a 'doubling up' on value they're already investing in through the design process. It's akin to a movie director finding the perfect real location for a film shoot, rather than having to build one from scratch in a back-lot.
Whilst this means project owners to gain greater value from their BIM investment, it also allows a faster turnaround with more emphasis on creative and tactile marketing. Ultimately it lowers preparation costs for our clients to access the very best in Architectural Visualisation.
Please inform us whether you're utilising BIM to unlock cost-savings at Bold with your next quote request.
- TRIBUNAL ASSISTANCE
- 27.05.10
-
as more and more developers, architects, engineers, advertising executives and real estate agents discover the empowered simplicity of communicating their project with Architectural Visualisation, it appears the legal profession has cottoned on as well. more >.
Bold Impressions has been sought for its accuracy and detail in visualising the built environment and has successfully applied its process to provide compelling proof of evidence in the form of visual impact analyses.
Attending our client's tribunal hearings, founder Adrian Bold has personally appeared as an expert witness on visual impact assessments twice in the past few weeks alone, both for and against new civil and structural developments. Outcomes have been extremely positive for our clients on both occasions; with alternative visual impact assessments put forward from other providers falling well short of being considered factual evidence by the tribunal panel when compared to services provided from Bold Impressions.
It has been revealed that the level of detail & accuracy put into architectural visualisation varies significantly, which is a result of the absence of a methodical code of conduct. It also highlights a possible need for better industry representation. Bold clients can rest assured they have access to content that can trump alternative offerings when battling appeals at both local and state planning levels.
- INTERACTIVE FLOORPLANS
- 12.06.10
-
fresh from the wacky stream of ideas in this year's R&D program comes a very sensible and effective new offering: iFloorplan. an innovative new product that allows your audience to 'explore' a virtual scene simply by choosing which spot they'd like to stand, as if the space of interest was physically built. more >.
Suitable for all residential, commercial and even industrial projects, it works by linking a 2D floorplan or sitemap to a suite of either single-view or 360-degree 3D imagery. Your stakeholders and prospects can select and browse all rooms, schemes & configurations, giving them an experience, aspect and sense of space unachievable until said space becomes a reality. (with holding costs to boot)
In an age where many market demographics will ignore the usual sales pitch and do their own homework to sell your space to themselves, what better way to provide more reassuring information at their fingertips when selling off the plan.
Seeing is believing, so click here for a quick sample using single-view imagery and imagine the possibilities for your next project! Available for online, DVD & Blu-ray delivery.

- PHYSICAL SCALE MODELS - AT A TOUCH OF A BUTTON?!
- 25.11.09
-
great news for all architects and developers who still like the tangibility of a physical scale model for their pitch and sales suite, but don't have the weeks and weeks of lead-time for it to be made. more >.
Bold Impressions now has the latest in mind-boggling sci-fi printing technology, which allows us to produce scale models direct from the highly-detailed digital CAD data we already develop for artist impressions and animation.
This means incredible cost-savings, efficiency and consistency, without doubling up on labour workflow, briefing and associated expense. What's more, you'll be ecstatic at the precision, seamless integration and quality results.

- 'Square' Tender makes Shortlist
- 23.04.09
-
exciting news just announced across local media in Tasmania! Three tenders, including that of our client, have been shortlisted to become the future look of Hobart's historic Parliament Square. more >
The prime location of the 8100sqm precinct has a mixture of 8 historic, and not-so historic buildings that sit directly behind Parliament House, and has the potential to become a public pivot point between the CBD and much the loved waterfront, which includes Salamanca.
Our involvement began by working closely with our client's world-renowned architectural firm, accurately producing highly-detailed 3D models of the existing historic buildings and their stone facades for the architects to work with. Ultimately, we delivered a suite of photomontages of the proposed 30.000sqm redevelopment from selected angles, including a higher-altitude-than-usual aerial taken from helicopter.
Presenting some of the design's striking features accurately, and 'cleaning' the retained historic facades were challenging alone. However, given the time of year was at the end of winter, working amongst the many thousands of branches and twigs of the large deciduous trees surrounding the precinct became a painstaking feat of sheer artistry.
This single seasonal factor alone meant the amount of time required to complete the brief was unexpectedly enormous, yet delivery was still achieved prior to the submission deadline last September. Much to the architect's surprise and our client's delight, this is testament to our flexible capacity.
The result, open for public display on-site until the 3rd June, provides a clear message of how a great picture can tell a thousand words. You will soon also be able to view our work in our online portfolio.
- Strong Sales amid the Recession
- 21.04.09
-
with property sales across the country remaining in volatile space, many of our clients late last year faced the dilemma of cutting costs to store capital, or investing more into their marketing to spearhead the ongoing gloom. more >
For a number of our clients, this latter strategy is now paying healthy dividends. A classic example is the Marque, a 95 unit apartment village in Collingwood, which was launched to market just 2 weeks ago. Our client informs us that they sold 12 properties with over 120 registrations of interest within the first 10 days.
Having outlaid less cash than usual with lower advertising rates, such clients have gained better market exposure as competition has withdrawn. Ultimately, this has compounded to achieve easier cut-through, awareness and top-of-mind mentality.
Fantastic results in this current climate show just how powerful surrogates for tangibility, which ooze emotion and desirability, can inspire the current market into action.
Working closely in conjunction with their marketing agency Boom Creative, Bold spent much of February producing a range of digital content aligned with their positioning strategy, from 3D imagery in their brochure and sales suite, to the 'designer' website.

The Bold Team - ICT Industry Awards
- 18.11.08
-
Our Tasmanian studio was recently nominated as one of the top Information, Communication and Technology companies, and we are proud to announce we were shortlisted as finalists in two categories, e-Solutions; and Innovative ICT Product/Service. more >
The Industry Awards night was held last Friday, 14th Nov at none other than the redeveloped Tattersalls Park, Hobart's equivalent of Flemington and one of Bold Impressions larger visualisation projects back in 2005.
The Tasmanian ICT industry is packed full of high-calibre companies generating the majority of its revenue from exports around the globe, so simply being listed as a finalist amongst them was a huge honour.

After a successful program of experimenting with Blu-Ray Disc technology earlier this year, we have recently shifted our focus towards physically-accurate lighting simulation. more >
This means we should be able to provide a new level of design auditing, interpreting interior lighting intensities, shape and shadow form for over a 1000 types of commercially-available light bulbs.
Derived from translating real-world Lumen and falloff values of light sources, from halogens to fluorescents, this new level of information will not only empower the design-development stages of your project but also allow for an ever greater level of realism in the end product, for marketing.

- Global Financial Crisis
- 18.11.08
-
With many developed nations heading into recession, find out why more of your competitors are choosing to invest more into their marketing now, to retain or grow market share and see them through the years ahead. more >
At Bold Impressions, we've seen a sharp increase in enquiries and commissioning from new and previous leads who had previously thought 3D Communication was either too expensive or unnecessary.
At the same time, we've also delivered an increasing range of services to new clients who had previously realised the benefits of 3D and sourced services from elsewhere, to now only realise that the quality was lacklustre and already looking tired amongst competitor offerings.
The recent upheaval in financial markets, and the ongoing volatility since means that the property market, in Australia and almost globally, has retracted to form a buyer's market.
Astute buyers are out there, with an abundance of property to choose from. This has meant information and retention of your offering is king, and more than ever the quality of your marketing material reflects the quality of your development.
There is no better way to provide the level of information the market now seeks by acquiring the very best visualisation available.

- BOLD QUALIFIES WITH GLOBAL HONOURS
- 04.04.08
Senior Development Artist Brandon Servant has qualified as one of the top 20 visualisation artists in the world to work on a historic lighthouse in Spain. more >
The team at Bold recently applied to the competitive project with a qualification round, involving the creative use of a set of shapes, downloaded from the committee at CG Architect, part of the American Digital Media Corporation. Strict accordance with the rules meant that an entire scene, architectural in nature, had to be built only from the shapes provided, without any distortion of their original ratios.
"Till now, the last 7 years at Bold we've kept a pretty quiet position on the global CG stage, I guess we've been quietly achieving world-class standards without too much hoo-hah we've come to expect from our US and UK counterparts." Says director Adrian Bold.
Brandon adds: "I'm just glad to know my work makes the grade - the real challenge, to visualise a visitor centre proposal for the lighthouse, along with 19 other artists still lies ahead."
The Tower of Hercules is a 2000 year old lighthouse built by the Romans on the northern coastline of Spain, by the town of Corunna.
- BLU-RAY R&D
- 02.04.08
With the withdrawal of HD-DVD by Toshiba, Sony has won the high definition format war for portable disc technology with its Blu-Ray. more >
This is big news at Bold since we've been developing content for HD consumption for the past few years, but without a format to actually display and distribute it on. "I guess we've been future-proofing our clients, and our portfolio, for this day we knew would arrive eventually" -says director Adrian Bold.
Blu Ray boasts disc capacity of 50gigabytes, as opposed to DVD at 4.4gb. Not only does this mean more pack for punch, the real benefit is the actual resolution of video it can support.
Bold Impressions has been creating DVD presentations for our clients since 2002 and it's been the best medium available. Even then we we're ahead of our game, with other Visualisation Agencies still using VHS. Over the next few months, we're investing in our R&D to be able to offer cutting edge Blu-Ray video and interactive presentations to our clients.
The best sales tool in a display suite is a true HD screen and a blu-ray player, with a disc that actually contains digital content actually authored at true, 1080p resolutions. Adrian adds: "Only then, can the story become crystal clear"
- BOOM CREATIVE - YOUR FORMULA FOR EXPLOSIVE RESULTS
- 27.03.08
Bold Impressions has recently formed a Joint Venture partnership with marketing company Sellutions. Boom Creative has been developed as a fully integrated, wire-to-wire marketing agency targeted at property development and associated markets. more >
"Over the years of working with the team at Bold, we have discovered many synergies. As business owners with an entrepreneurial bent, both Adrian and I felt there was a real opportunity to offer developers and builders a holistic solution to their sales and marketing objectives" Manny Loupas - Director of Sellutions.
The services offerings of Boom begin with strategic development which in turn feeds the ideas process that makes our solutions relevant to the client. In other words, the client receives maximum impact in the marketing tools delivered because we help to identify SMART objectives, then develop the strategies with which to achieve them. What's more, the client's marketing budget is given the opportunity to be fully maximised due to the economical benefit of integration. The results are not just financially beneficial, but the integrity of the campaign is maintained across the various marketing elements.
Boom's 'keep it simple' approach to marketing solutions means that the primary objective should be compromised as little as possible. Not easy to do when quite often, a marketing campaign may have several secondary objectives and desired outcomes, mostly as a result of trying to give the client more perceived value rather than obtaining the best possible outcome. As Manny rightly explains; "One of the most challenging aspects to our client relations is managing their expectations. For this reason, we would prefer to walk away from the job, rather than make unrealistic promises that don't fulfill the marketing brief."
As interest rates continue to rise, it's clear that a buyer's market will emerge. This makes getting the marketing mix right for developments all the more critical. A common mistake we see is developers skimping on marketing budgets, only to chew into their profits with prolonged holding costs.
Marketing is not an exact science. There are many complicated nuances to consider that must take into account competitor activity, market conditions, product dimensions and most critically, consumer behavior. What Boom offers is access to trained professionals with academic and real-world qualifications who all share a passion for what they do. Ultimately, it's the client's success that is our greatest reward.
To find out more about Boom visit the website. You can also download a brochure here.
